Al Ain Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Al Ain City, and was established over 45 years ago. With 402 beds, Al Ain Hospital provides specialized acute care, emergency medical care and the UAE's first acute Stroke Unit as part of its 35 medical departments. Al Ain Hospital has been accredited by Joint Commission International since 2010. The hospital serves as an academic medical centre, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University. Furthermore, the hospital also provides medical residency training programs for Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Behavioural Sciences.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage mental health disorders in elderly patients.
• Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including cognitive and functional assessments.
• Manage patients with dementia, delirium, depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and other age-related psychiatric conditions.
• Provide consultation and support to multidisciplinary teams regarding the psychiatric care of older adults.
• Participate in family meetings and provide guidance to caregivers regarding treatment plans and ongoing care.
• Collaborate with geriatric medicine, neurology, internal medicine, rehabilitation, and community healthcare teams.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and allied healthcare professionals where applicable.
• Contribute to clinical research, education, and professional development activities.
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
• in Abu Dhabi.
• Existing DOH License as Consultant Psychiatrist is preferred.

Qualifications

Education

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Training Program.
• Fellowship, Board Certification, or equivalent qualification in Psychiatry.

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years post-specialization experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist, preferably with significant experience in Geriatric or Old Age Psychiatry.
• Experience managing complex psychiatric conditions in elderly populations.
• Experience in multidisciplinary and hospital-based mental health services preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fellowship or subspecialty training in Geriatric Psychiatry / Old Age Psychiatry.
• Experience in dementia care, cognitive disorders, and neuropsychiatry.
• Leadership and service development experience is an advantage.

Licensure

• Eligibility for Department of Health (DOH) Consultant licensure
