About temporary jobs
Temporary work covers jobs for a specific period or for a defined task that ends when the task is completed. Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 recognises temporary work as a distinct pattern in the private sector, alongside full-time, part-time and flexible work. Typical examples include seasonal roles, events and exhibitions, peak periods in retail and logistics, inventory counts, short projects and cover for absent staff.
Many temporary roles are filled through staffing or outsourcing agencies, which then employ you and assign you to a client company. In that case, your contract, work permit and salary are with the agency, so check its licence and the terms it offers. Temporary work can be a way to gain local experience quickly, and some assignments lead to longer contracts.
Points to check
- Exact duration or the task that ends the contract
- Whether you are employed by the company or an agency
- A valid work permit for the assignment
- Daily or monthly pay and payment dates
- Never pay a fee to obtain a job or a visa
