About the role: Graphic and UX designer
Graphic designers, UX/UI designers, video editors and art directors create the visual side of brands and digital products. Their work ranges from logos, campaigns and packaging to websites, mobile apps, motion graphics and video content.
In the UAE, designers work in advertising and digital agencies, in-house brand teams, media and production companies, real estate developers, retailers, hospitality groups, event companies and government entities. Dubai Design District (d3) and Dubai Media City host many creative businesses. Product companies and government digital services hire UX/UI designers to improve apps and online services.
A strong portfolio is the most important part of any application. Designing in both English and Arabic, with an understanding of right-to-left layouts and Arabic typography, is a valuable and relatively rare skill.
Main responsibilities
- Create visuals for print, digital and social media
- Design user journeys, wireframes and interfaces
- Edit video and produce motion graphics
- Apply and evolve brand guidelines
- Prepare files for print and development teams
Skills employers look for
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Figma for UX/UI work
- Premiere Pro or After Effects for video
- Arabic typography and RTL layouts
- Presenting and defending design choices
