About the role: Allied health and laboratory
Allied health professionals provide the diagnostic, therapeutic and technical services that support doctors and nurses: laboratory technologists, radiographers, physiotherapists, occupational and speech therapists, dietitians, respiratory therapists, optometrists and paramedics. In the UAE they work in hospitals, diagnostic centres, rehabilitation centres, clinics, schools and ambulance services.
Most allied health roles are licensed professions, regulated by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) in Dubai, the Department of Health (DOH) in Abu Dhabi or the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) in the other emirates. Each regulator sets the qualifications and experience required for each title, so check the requirements for your specialty before applying.
Rehabilitation, paediatric therapy, medical imaging and laboratory diagnostics are active areas. Many positions involve shift work, and employers expect you to know quality standards, patient safety rules and the documentation expected in accredited facilities.
