About the role: Pharmacist and pharma

Pharmacists dispense medicines, check prescriptions for safety, advise patients and manage stock, while pharmaceutical industry roles cover regulatory affairs, medical affairs, quality and supply. In the UAE, pharmacists work in community pharmacy chains, hospital pharmacies, clinics, distributors and manufacturers.

Like other healthcare professionals, pharmacists need a licence from the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the Department of Health (DOH) in Abu Dhabi or the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) for the other emirates, depending on where they work. Community pharmacies often run long opening hours and shifts, and pharmacists frequently handle insurance approvals, over-the-counter advice and cosmetics or supplement sales alongside dispensing.

Industry positions with multinational laboratories, distributors and local manufacturers such as those in Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai often ask for experience with product registration files, pharmacovigilance or good manufacturing practice. A degree in pharmacy is the usual entry point for these roles too.
