About the role: Doctor and physician
Doctors diagnose and treat patients, from general practitioners in primary care to specialists, consultants, surgeons and dentists in hospitals and polyclinics. In the UAE they work in government hospital networks, private hospital groups, outpatient clinics, telemedicine services and corporate medical centres.
Practising medicine requires a licence from the health regulator of the emirate concerned: the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) in Dubai, the Department of Health (DOH) in Abu Dhabi and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) in the other emirates; facilities in Dubai Healthcare City are licensed by their own authority. Your professional title (general practitioner, specialist or consultant) depends on your qualifications and post-qualification experience, and determines which positions you can apply for.
Hospitals recruit throughout the year, with strong demand in emergency medicine, family medicine, paediatrics, anaesthesia, intensive care, radiology and surgical specialties. Recruiters expect your licensing status to be stated clearly on your CV, along with your board certifications and the procedures you perform independently.

Licensing in the UAE
Each regulator publishes its own professional qualification requirements. Start primary source verification of your diplomas and experience early, as it often takes several weeks.
