About the role: Maintenance technician
Maintenance technicians keep equipment and buildings in working order through preventive maintenance and repairs. The family covers HVAC, electrical and plumbing technicians, mechanical fitters, welders, machine operators and multi-skilled technicians in plants and facilities.
Facilities management companies are among the largest employers in the UAE, maintaining towers, malls, hospitals, schools and residential communities. Industrial plants, oil and gas contractors, utilities, hotels, airports and automotive workshops also recruit technicians continuously. The heavy use of air conditioning makes HVAC technicians particularly sought after.
Employers look for a technical diploma or trade certificate and hands-on experience with the equipment concerned. Welders are often tested and certified against codes such as ASME IX or AWS. Shift and on-call work is common, and in facilities roles a UAE driving licence can be a plus for technicians covering several sites.
