About the role: Security guard
Security guards and officers protect people, buildings and assets. The family includes static and patrol guards, CCTV operators, security supervisors and managers, event security staff and lifeguards at pools and beaches.
Security companies supply guards to residential communities, malls, hotels, schools, hospitals, construction sites and industrial facilities across the UAE, and large organisations also employ in-house security teams. Events, airports and critical infrastructure add more specialised roles in access control and screening.
Employers look for discipline, alertness and good communication, usually with basic English and often Arabic. Guards must be licensed by the relevant authority in the emirate where they work, and employers commonly arrange the training. Lifeguards need a recognised lifeguard and first aid certificate. Shift work, including nights and long hours on site, is standard in this field.

Licensing in the UAE
In Dubai, security guards must be trained and licensed through the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA). Other emirates have their own licensing arrangements, which your employer will usually handle as part of onboarding.
