About the role: Hotel management
Hotel and tourism management covers the people who run hotels, resorts and tourism businesses: general and departmental managers, revenue and reservations managers, guest relations, spa and leisure teams, and travel, tour and destination management staff.
The UAE welcomes large numbers of international visitors each year, and tourism is a strategic sector for every emirate. Dubai has one of the largest hotel inventories in the region, Abu Dhabi has developed Yas and Saadiyat islands around theme parks and culture, and Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are growing beach and nature destinations. Hotel openings, cruise tourism and events create a steady flow of vacancies.
Management roles require hospitality experience, ideally with an international hotel brand, along with leadership, financial and commercial skills. Revenue and sales roles ask for experience with booking channels and revenue management tools. Spa therapists need recognised qualifications in their treatments, and travel consultants are expected to know booking systems and destinations.
Main responsibilities
- Manage hotel departments and guest experience
- Lead, schedule and train teams
- Drive revenue, occupancy and budgets
- Develop tours, packages and partnerships
- Maintain brand standards and guest satisfaction
Skills employers look for
- Experience with international hotel or tourism operators
- Leadership and people management
- Revenue management and commercial skills
- Excellent English; other languages valued

Qualifications
A degree or diploma in hospitality or tourism management is common, and several hospitality schools operate in the UAE. Hotel groups also run management trainee programmes, and some government tourism departments run initiatives to develop UAE nationals in the sector.
