About the role: Cloud and DevOps engineer

Cloud and DevOps engineers build and run the infrastructure on which modern applications are delivered. They automate deployments, manage cloud environments, keep systems reliable and secure, and help development teams ship changes quickly and safely.

The major cloud providers have opened data centre regions in the UAE, and many organisations are moving workloads to the cloud while keeping data in the country. Recruitment comes from technology companies and start-ups, telecoms operators, airlines and travel platforms, retailers, consultancies and system integrators, and government entities modernising their digital services.

Job titles include DevOps engineer, cloud engineer, site reliability engineer (SRE), platform engineer and cloud architect. Employers expect hands-on experience with at least one major cloud, containers and infrastructure as code, and senior roles add architecture, cost optimisation and security responsibilities.

Main responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Provision infrastructure with Terraform or similar tools
• Run Kubernetes clusters and containerised workloads
• Set up monitoring, alerting and incident response
• Control cloud costs and apply security best practices
